Nerja and Frigiliana: magnificent views, stalactite caves and Moorish charm

A day trip by coach from Málaga to Nerja and Frigiliana is a journey through beautiful Andalusian landscapes, views that stretch as far as Africa, a visit to the Cathedral of Nature and walks along steep, winding streets of whitewashed houses.

Benidorm, also known as Spain's Manhattan, is one of the most touristy beach towns in Spain. But it's possible to avoid the tourist crowds.⁠ ⁠ I've visited Benidorm and explored how to have an active wellness vacation in the city that pampers both body and soul.⁠ ⁠ Among other things, I climbed the national park on an electric bike, participated in Nordic walking on the beach, practiced yoga, and tasted healthy smoothies.⁠ ⁠ My article can be read in today's edition of the newspaper Politiken⁠ ⁠ ⁠ ⁠ 🇩🇰 Benidorm, også kaldet Spaniens Manhattan er en af de mest turistede badebyer i Spanien. Have you strolled through Bilbao’s Notting Hill? ⁠ ⁠ As you walk through the streets of Kirikiño, Zuberoa, and Baiona in the Iralabarri neighborhood of Bilbao, you’ll be greeted by a series of picturesque, colorful houses. Not without reason, these streets have earned the nickname Bilbao’s Notting Hill.⁠ ⁠ The houses were built around 1916 and were inspired by English garden cities but with a Basque twist. They consist of both detached and terraced houses and have their own courtyards and gardens.⁠ ⁠ Behind the construction was Juan José Irala, who owned the legendary bakery Harino-Panadera and a flour mill. The houses became a haven for his workers to live in. The bakery has long since closed, but it is said that when it existed, the whole neighborhood smelled of freshly baked bread.⁠ ⁠ ⁠ ⁠ 🇩🇰 Har du slentret gennem Bilbao’s Notting Hill?⁠ ⁠ Når du går gennem gaderne Kirikiño, Zuberoa og Baiona, i kvarteret Iralabarri i Bilbao bliver du mødt af en række maleriske, farvestrålende huse. Gaderne har ikke uden grund har fået kælenavnet Bilbaos Notting Hill.⁠ ⁠ Husene er bygget i årene omkring 1916 og inspireret af de engelske havebyer, men er også tilføjet et baskisk præg. De består både af fritliggende og rækkehuse og har egne gårdhaver og haver.⁠ ⁠ Bag byggeriet stod Juan José Irala, som ejede det legendariske bageri Harino-Panadera og en melfabrik. Husene blev et åndehul, som hans arbejdere kunne bo i. Are you a fan of cycling? And do you watch the Vuelta a España? 🚵‍♀️ 🇪🇸⁠ ⁠ Then you might know the Lakes of Covadonga. Along the road towards and around the lakes, you can spot the names of professional cyclists written in yellow in several places. The area with the lakes is part of the route in the Vuelta a España, so it’s also visited by many cycling fans.⁠ ⁠ If you enjoy hiking, there are numerous trails in the Picos de Europa. The circular route around the Lakes of Covadonga, which can be completed by the whole family, consists of a short (3 kilometers) and a long (5 kilometers) trail.
